Bridge Beliefs to A More Successful Practice.

I read recently that the greatest limits to our success are the ones we create in our own minds. I find that to be true in my own life and when I work with therapists who want to grow their practice.

Mary Jane, a LPC, wanted to raise her fees. In fact she wanted to double them. Not for her current clients who had come with her from a non-profit agency - but for new clients. When she left the non-profit agency and opened her practice, she had set her fees so low she couldn't pay her bills.

But she just couldn't see herself asking for a fee that was double her current fee. Her practice was in danger of going under unless she changed something.

We developed a bridge belief for her. A bridge belief is somewhere between what you really want and what you currently believe. Sometimes it is too hard to believe you can have what you really want. A bridge belief can be the answer.

A bridge belief should scare you a little and excite you a lot. For Mary Jane, this meant quoting a fee to new clients that was $20 more than her old fee. She didn't raise it for her existing clients - just for new prospects. While this new fee wasn't double her old fee, it was a significant increase.

Her next two clients paid the new fee. And now Mary Jane is developing her next bridge belief.

If you want to release a limiting belief, consider developing your own bridge belief. Then watch what happens. You will be moving toward your goal of a more successful private practice! How cool is that?
