Dear Colleague,

It seems that the news is full of doom and gloom for the economy. And you may have noticed that your cash-paying clients are coming less often. It can be disturbing and especially so if you don't have a plan to ramp up your marketing.

But many marketing experts (including me) are reporting that this a fabulous time to build your practice. Some therapists are not even affected by the current state of the economy.

I was at Nordstrom's last week. In case you aren't familiar with Nordstrom's, it is a very upscale department store. The parking lot was full of expensive cars and gas-guzzling SUVs. The store was full of people - mostly women. The store had been open only 30 minutes and I saw many women with their arms already full of shopping bags.

Even the discount store parking lots are full. Gas prices don't seem to be reducing the traffic in my area.

What does this mean to you and your private practice?

1) Your success depends on how well you market your practice and a lot less on the economy than you might think. Yes, there will be cash-paying clients who tend to come less often. But there will be others who want to come the same or more often. If your marketing efforts are working - if people know you "get them" and they believe in you, you will be getting new clients to fill the hole in your practice.

2) This is the perfect time to get serious about building a marketing plan that will sustain you during any times that others may think of as "bad times."

In fact, many therapists I know are making 6-figures and are telling me that they still are getting new clients on a regular basis. They are reporting no ill effects of the economy and some are even reporting that their practices are increasing as their wealthier clients want to talk about "the economy."

What is their secret?

It is simple - they have an ongoing marketing plan that keeps clients coming in the door -
month after month.

They developed a marketing plan and each week spend time implementing it. This has moved them from therapists who are struggling month-to-month to therapists who enjoy the lulls when they happen.

So, are these therapists who have been seeing wealthy clients for the past zillion years? Well, maybe some are, but most are traditional therapists who have created a plan and are faithfully implementing it.

These successful therapists are feeling relaxed now and don't participate in the gloomy talk about a recession. They have the tools and they implement them. They all, to one degree or another, used basically the same fundamental formula...I call it "8 Key Strategies to a Full and Rewarding Private Practice."

Just follow the 8 steps I outline, take the action necessary, and I predict that you will be wondering what all this fuss about a recession is about. Of course we can't guarantee that you will see an immediate increase in your client load but you will be on the road to having the practice you want. You will be one of the leading-edge private practitioners who will take charge of your own practice and income. No more worrying about the lack of "word of mouth" referrals.
